A large eagle for the back of your vest
A large embossed leather patch, 23 × 29.4 cm: an eagle with spread wings rising above a large round. Inside the round we mount our 14 cm skull-ring disc, which fits exactly in the inner circle. Three colours: aged brown, red or white, with a skull ring in the same colour. The eagle is sold with its centre decoration.
The pewter motif
Inside the skull ring we rivet the pewter motif of your choice, from 32 designs: Live to Ride, Route 66, Lady Biker, eagle, bison, Celtic cross, mandala, skulls… Each motif is cast in solid pewter in our moulds, deburred by hand, given an old-silver patina and riveted onto a matching leather washer. Price: €45 for the eagle, plus the usual price of the skull disc with the chosen motif.
Pre-punching option (+€5)
Sewing your patch on by hand is the personal touch that makes all the difference on a vest. On a leather vest, you also have to pierce the vest leather to pass the needle. With the pre-punching option, we punch the edge of the patch in advance, with a hole every 2 mm. The patch then becomes your template: glue it onto the vest with leather glue so it stays in place, pierce the vest through its holes, and both are perfectly aligned. All that’s left is to sew with a saddle stitch, using two needles and waxed thread: it’s the strongest stitch for leather, and you’ll easily find a tutorial by searching “leather saddle stitch” on YouTube. For machine sewing, the unpunched patch is the better choice.
Made in our workshop
In our family workshop, since 1989, our patches are cut from full-grain leather made especially for Traveller Shop by a French tanner, then embossed. On the photo the relief barely shows: in real life the design stands out clearly, and the patch looks even better.
