Made in our workshop in France.
A back patch that stands out
A large 24 × 26 cm shield, cut and embossed in relief in the leather: a skull on crossed bones, two brass knuckles, and a border of Maltese crosses all round. Three colours: antique brown, red and black, or black and white. To sew on the back of a vest or a jacket.
The mini-rivet border (+€25)
For an even more detailed shield, we set 9 metal mini-rivets on the border: skulls (9.5 × 11.5 mm), roses or Maltese crosses (11.5 × 11.5 mm). You can also have it without mini-rivets.
The pewter centre motif
Each motif is cast in solid pewter in our moulds, deburred by hand and given an antique silver patina. We rivet it to the centre of the shield in our workshop, on a matching leather washer: black on the brown, red on the red, white on the white. 28 designs to choose from: Live to Ride, Route 66, Lady Biker, eagle, bison, Celtic cross, Aztec calendar, skulls… The price follows your choices: €55 for the shield alone, plus the price of the motif (€20 to €35) and of the mini-rivets. Prefer the shield without a motif? Choose “No motif”.
Pre-punching option (+€5)
Sewing your patch on yourself, by hand, is the personal touch that makes all the difference on a vest. On a leather vest you also have to pierce the vest leather to pass the needle. With the pre-punching option, we punch the edge of the shield in advance, with a hole every 2 mm. The patch then becomes your template: glue it to the vest with leather glue so it stays put, pierce the vest leather through its holes, and both line up perfectly. All that is left is to sew with a saddle stitch, using two needles and waxed thread: it is the strongest stitch for leather, and you will easily find a tutorial by searching “leather saddle stitch” on YouTube. For machine sewing, the unpunched patch is better.
Made in our workshop
In our family workshop, since 1989, our patches are cut from full-grain leather made especially for Traveller Shop by a French tannery, then embossed. In the photo the relief barely shows: in real life the design stands out clearly, and the patch looks even better.
